Rafting 1Hualien is bustling and wonderful in summer. The passion of the sunshine in eastern Taiwan always attracts endless crowds. Hualien is a paradise for watersports in summers. You can freely enjoy sunshine and water, like hiring a professional coach for a river trekking trip in the cool river. If it is not exciting enough, rafting in the Xiugulan River will sure be a perfect idea. In the night, you can try the song of ocean with the Amis people for a romantic night with you loved one. In summer, there are endless activities in Hualien that can keep you stay.

Due to the rift valley and the rapid waterflow at the meander, rafting is a popular watersport in eastern Taiwan. The Xiugulan River is the most popular rafting spot. From the Ruisui Bridge to the estuary at the Changhong Bridge, this 24-km course is characterized by the magnificent rift valley, strange stones, and over 20 points with torrents and rapids to bring indescribable breathtaking experience.

One rafting trip takes about 3–4 hours, and there is a halfway rest area near Quimei. Rafting has become a must for young people visiting Hualien for fun.

Rafting trips are available year-round, and the busy season is between April and October. Trips typically start between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. every day. Few trips would start past noon, and no trips are permitted after 3:00 p.m.

Safety Precautions: Those with heard diseases and epilepsy are not advised to try rafting. No drinking wine before rafting. Join the briefing arranged by the rafting service provider and watch the safety notice film arranged by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration in advance. Wear casual clothes and sneakers or rubber shoes to facilitate walking on the riverbed and prevent scratches during rafting. Put sunblock on the body exposed to the sun in summer. Do not take off the lifejacket and safety helmet or release the buckle ensure safety in the water. Do not litter the river.

Located next to the Ruisui Bridge in the East Rift Valley, it is the start of rafting in the Xiugulan River. In the center there is a exhibition room displaying the ecological resources in the rafting section of the river and broadcasting the film on rafting safety precautions. The affiliated campsite is also very popular and always full.
