Luntian Recreation Area is in the Luntian Tribe in Gufeng Village, Zhuoxi Township, Hualien County. Inside the Recreation Area, you can find recreation services such as restaurants, a parking lot, and an accommodation area. The visitor center in the area and the arena both feature the rich characteristics of the Bunun indigenous people.The Luntian Tribe is the place where the Bunun people settled. The Tribe is divided into two settlements: upper Tribe and lower Tribe. Some totems symbolizing the Bunun people are photoshoot hotspots for tourists. Around the Malahodaigian Festival in May, you will hear Bunun people singing the famous “Prayer for an Abundant Millet Harvest” or traditional songs, such as “Malastapang” that tells the war achievements. It’s the best time to visit the Luntian Tribe of the Bunun people to see their traditional culture.Outside of the Tribe, you can see vast rice paddies or vegetable gardens. The mist surrounding the mountains is ethereal, creating a poetic and picturesque view. Urban dwellers can go for a stroll in the Luntian tribal area to relieve some stress from work.
