Liangtan Bike Path begins at Deyan Binhai Botanical Garden and connects the Qixintan to the Liyutan Bike Path; also, it joins Liangtie Bike Path, which is between two railway stations. Then, it leads north from Taroko to East Rift Valley in the south. The trail mostly follows County Road No.193 and Huaijiu Railway; it goes past the Qixintan Scenic Area. Then, with the navigational aid from the Qilaibi Lighthouse, the path goes uphill to the Siba Highland, passes the Hualien Port, with facilities designed for cargo vessels; then, it comes to the North (Beibin) Seashore Park where people can overlook the beautiful estuary of Sapodang River from the Shuguang Bridge. After going past Nanbin Park, the section along Provincial Highway No.9 and the Muguaxi Bridge goes between the Guanghua Cultural and Creative Industries Park and the Liyutan Scenic Area, an excellent place for the appreciation of wilderness and distant mountains. Eventually, the route ends at the Liyutan Scenic Area. People can take a short break before heading back or carry on the discovery journey of mountain river landscapes alongside the Liyutan Bike Path.

The total length of the path is 35.5 km and takes approximately 3.5 hours per one-way trip.
