In the 2000s, a group of stone craftsmen founded the Hualien County Handicrafts Association in the spirit of unity, harmony, helping self and others, R&D, and innovation. They also set up the Stone Art Avenue at the Railway Hospital’s former site. It’s dedicated to displaying stone crafts and promoting innovation in the field; it has become a well-known landmark today.
