A 992m2 pet park has been established at the flood plain near the upstream section of Meilun River in Hualien County. As the first pet park in Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung, the venue offers fur babies playground facilities such as lawns, sandpits, tires, and tunnels, other amenities include sunshades, seats in the rest area, and toilets.

At present, two old Japanese movie projectors are on display; there used to be two or three movies shown at Zhongshan Hall every week. Saoba Ruin is an archaeological site in Taiwan. The site is located southwest of the confluence of Xiuguluan River and Hongye River in the East Rift Valley. It is also situated to the north of Wuhe Terrace. The Terrace stands in the middle of the valley, looking over the Xiuguluan River. The views here are great, and the scenery is pleasant.Saoba Ruin includes two monoliths standing right next to each other at 5.75 m and 3.99m, respectively. These monoliths appeared around 3,000 years ago, the only prehistoric megalithic monument in Taiwan. Therefore, the Ministry of the Interior has designated the Ruin as a third-class historical site. Nevertheless, the Ruin is an essential representation of prehistoric megalithic civilization and stirs the many emotions of people from different places throughout history. Here, you can overlook the Xiuguluan River and Central Mountain Range.The mysterious Saoba Ruin combined with the Amis legends makes the attraction even more arresting. Hualien Railway Cultural Park used to be the “Hualien Harbor Branch Office” that managed the railways and highways in Hualien and Taitung. The Office was responsible for administrative affairs and supervising the construction and operations of the railways in the east. After it was deactivated, the place was registered as one of the historical buildings in Hualien County, thanks to the efforts of government authorities and private organizations. In 2003, the office was renovated and transformed into Hualien Railway Culture Park Hall 1. The old trees in the Park have been standing through different eras and protecting the precious remaining site of the railway. The Director’s room and archive room have been transformed into other exhibition areas inside the Hall. The Hall also features the “Costume Experience,” an exciting activity. Hualien Railway Culture Park Hall 2 is the renovated combination of the Old Hualien Construction Section and Police Section; it preserves the old offices, detention cells, and a blacksmith workshop. As a result, the place reeks of great nostalgia. In addition, the Park aims to introduce to the visitors the history of the building and the old locomotive of the east coastline, LDT103, which carries the historical meanings of the development Hualien-Taitung Area. To achieve this end, the park especially added a train whistle that sounds regularly, and a smoking device based on the image of the locomotive. In so doing, the historical scene from the past is thus represented.

Zhuilu Old Trail in Taroko National Park, and rises 700 meters above sea level. The canyon here is made of dense, strong marble, its nearly vertical walls formed by swelling land and the erosive Liwu River cutting through Sanjiaozhui Mountain’s southeastern peak. Zhuilu Old Trail winds along the Zhuilu Cliffs, across from the Fuji Cliffs.Zhuilu’s hard marble makeup does not absorb water well, and so cannot support much plant life along the Trail. Looking down from the precipitous cliffside and seeing the water rush by far below is an intimidating but amazing experience of Taroko’s majestic canyons.Due to safety reasons, Zhuilu Old Trail was closed off for several years. In consideration of ecotourism and historical preservation, the Trail was later renovated and 3.1 kilometers of the 10.3-kilometer-long road were opened. The section from Zhuilu Bridge to Cliff Outpost is accessible, but hikers must obtain a mountain entry permit and park entry permit to enter the trail.
