Tzu Chi Jing-Si Abode was built in the winter of 1969. The building went through renovation and expansion several times because the worn-out building had a leaking roof or a need for meeting affairs. The Abode is divided into several sections from the outmost part to the innermost part: main hall, Guanyin Hall, new lecture hall, female dormitory, male dormitory, dining hall, office, and vegetable garden. Visitors can follow the maple path to the Abode and see the modest and elegant main hall right in front of them. The four pillars symbolize the “Four Immeasurables” of benevolence, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, which best represent Tzu Chi’s efforts in putting Buddhism to use in daily life.
