One section of bikeway runs next to the Pacific Ocean. The bikeway is named Liantan (two lakes) because it links Liyu Lake and Qixing Lake. Most cyclists cycle from the Nanbin Park to the Hualien Harbor Scenic Bridge via the Beibin Park, Shuguan Bridge, and Hualien Niaotashi Park. Locals called it the “coastal bikeway”. Along the bikeway there are public toilets, parks, car parks, as well as bike rental stations. Visitors can rent a bike or electric bicycle to cycle along the Pacific Ocean or walk along the bikeway to enjoy the refreshing ocean view. Liantan Bike Path is well-planned independent bikeway separated from motorways to ensure no struggle for space with cars and motorcycles. Along the path there are bikeways modified from past railways. The entire path is verdant and safe. One will be refreshed when stopping by watching the sea and enjoying the see breeze on the way. Besides cycling, there are beach volleyball and X-game sites in the Beibin Park for group visitors and a family watersport area. It is also a common stroll area to locals.
