The fishing festival of the Amis in Ji’an Township is held annually around June at the AMIS Sea Festival Square, and the sea festival site is an important venue for passing down the fishing festival and Amis marine culture. This is also the intersection of the Hualien Coastal Line Bicycle Path and the Guanghua Riverside Line Bicycle Path, which is not easy to find on Google Maps, and there is no parking lot. It is recommended to come here in the daytime or before evening as the view is relatively poor at night. Once you arrive at the square, a landmark art installation will greet you with a wide-open space, where you can sit on the ground whenever you need to. In addition to being a perfect place for the residents of Ji’an doing exercise, this is also the mouth of the Hualien River (Hue-lan Bay), which is a good place to see the Hualien Mountains (Chichi Highland), the Pacific Ocean, and watching the sunrise and birds. To emphasize and boost local culture, Ji’an Township Office has set up the “AMIS Sea Festival Square” imaged sign at the intersection of Nanbin Road and Huazhong Road, which is decorated with indigenous elements to guide visitors into the Sea Festival Square through Huazhong Road.
