Shihmen Outpost Rest Stop, located in Fengbin Township, Hualien, is named after the original location where the Coast Guard is shifting. After the outpost was abandoned, they built a new mini lighthouse, a double heart sculpture, and a heart-shaped marble stone sculpture. “Shihmen Outpost Rest Stop” was originally a campsite for the Coast Guard. It had been abandoned for a long time. Yet, the Fengbin Township Office strived to transform and include it under the “Fengbin Township Shihmen Coastal Landscape Recreation Planning Project” with a NTD 900,000 budget in 2012. In addition to the cute-looking lighthouse at the entrance, the most attractive spot for tourists is the “Double Heart Stone Gate,” with a pink three-dimensional stone carving and the word “LOVE” in front of the stone statue. With the Pacific Ocean as the background and free entrance admission, it is about 500 meters from Shihmen Cave to Shihmen Rest Area, and, it’s less than 4 kilometers to Shitiping; people and couples crowd here to take photos to commemorate the event, “invite the Pacific Ocean to witness their eternal love.” Shihmen Shift Post Rest Stop offers a 360-degree view of the ocean and is another option to rest along Provincial Highway No.11.
