The Hualien Scenic Bridge connects to the Hualien Port Waterfront Recreation Area. The first thing visitors see is the “Venus Gallery” with colorful mosaic tiles on the exterior walls. It brings colorful vibrance to the port warehouse. The bright gallery has been the art center for nearly 40 years. Also, it’s one of Hualien’s most historical art museums. The entire recreation area is full of a colorful artistic atmosphere. In front of the gallery is a public art installation, a one-piece stone sculpture named “Blue Bird of Happiness.” It’s a mailbox weighing 6 tons, 3.6 m in height and a diameter of 168 cm. It’s made of serpentine, Taiwan jade, and mineral intergrowth – the world’s only serperntine mailbox by the Pacific Ocean.
