Guangfu Township’s former name was Fataan. Since every household in the township used to grow pigeon peas, hence it was also referred to as the hometown of pigeon peas. Pigeon peas are called Fataan in the Amis language, hence the name Fataan Township. With serene views and fantastic natural surroundings, as well as transport convenience in the form of Huatung Highway, the North-South Line, and the Guangfeng Highway that leads to the Fengbin Township in the east coast, coupled with rich in culture and heritage, and the government’s efforts in local developments, the East Rift Valley has become a popular recreational and sightseeing destination among the citizens.
