"If you can't make authentic Malaysian meals, don't do it at all!" Malaysian cuisine with its unique flavors is brought to Hualien through the hands of Wen Xinyuan!

42-year-old Wen Xinyuan and his 41-year-old wife, Xiao Zhenling, have been married for 20 years and have 2 daughters. "Satiation Malaysian Cuisine," a restaurant he previously operated out of Malaysia, has been in business for 17 years. The restaurant has many customers and receives rave reviews, testifying to his great cooking skills.

After his daughter came to Taiwan for college studies, Wen, who has always liked Hualien, became determined to move to Taiwan. To take good care of their children, they reopened the restaurant to make a living at a house owned by Wen’s father-in-law. The restaurant is highly recommended by customers, making "Satiation Malaysian Cuisine" an immensely popular destination.

Following Wen’s careful training, his younger brother, who is also a chef, is now able to work closely with him. Every single dish is amazingly good. Wen, who is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, is confident and enthusiastic about their cuisines.

Malaysian bak-kut-teh soup, cooked with herbal packs made from 12 kinds of Chinese herbs, has rich flavors and can help remove moisture from the body and warm the stomach. Vegetable-flavored handmade tofu is fried to create a crispy skin, and tastes both sweet and smooth. Xingzhou rice noodles taste light and refreshing, smell fragrant and are deliciously chewy. Curry Su Dong (squid) is another dish beloved by customers. Other items on the menu, such as fried meat, sweet chicken, and Malaysian Hokkien noodles, etc. are all classic dishes waiting to be savored.

Born in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, Wen feels that the pace of life in the metropolis is too fast. After coming to Hualien, he became very fond of its slow pace and leisurely lifestyle.

The couple says that the scenery on Nanhua Second Street in front of the restaurant is wonderful. Toward east of Zhicaxuan Avenue, enjoy easy access to the picturesque Taiwan Happy Farm and a chance to watch the sea and sky meet at the mouth of Papaya Creek. Other nearby scenic spots include Farglory Ocean Park and Lichuan Fishing Ground. From Nanhua Second Street, turn north on the 9th Route to Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park, Pine Garden Hotel, and Tungtamen Night Market. Come dine at Satiation Malaysian Cuisines and from there continue on your adventure savoring the beauty of Hualien.
