Due to typhoons and monsoons, Hualien’s average rainfall per year is around 2,000 millimeters, which is quite abundant. The rainy season lasts for more than 260 days, giving Hualien a rainy climate. In summer afternoons, thunderstorms and heavy rain often occur. During winter, precipitation isn’t lacking either, with snow occasionally falling on high mountains, attracting large crowds to enjoy the white landscape.
