The Huadong Valley (East Rift Valley) sits at the border of a tectonic plate. Rivers are divided into east and west by the Central Mountain Range and Coastal Mountain Range, creating intertwining streams. Through the combined effect of small and large rivers, gravel from upstream and midstream traveled down to the river mouths and eventually accumulated to form a vast alluvial plain.
