Turumoan: A River of Shining Dreams

Turumoan, which originally derived from the Spanish that meant “a shining place”, is the earliest recorded name of Hualien. It is used to refer to the area spanning from the north of Qixintan (Qixingtan) to the south of Liwu River, now part of Xincheng Township.
