Delicious Dishes Made with Organic PeanutsSouthern-Style Peanut Rice Dumplings

During the recent Dragon Boat Festival, many may have enjoyed the traditional southern-style zongzi (rice dumplings) - and Fenglin is one of Taiwan’s key peanut-producing regions. The local handmade dumplings begin with fresh pork hindquarter, chopped and seared in hot oil to lock in the juices.

This flavorful meat, seasoned with a rich sauce, becomes the heart of the dumpling. It’s then paired with organic peanuts grown in Fenglin’s sandy soil and aged glutinous rice stored for a year. The dumplings are boiled in bubbling water for nearly 40 minutes and left to rest for the flavors to deepen further. The beauty of southern-style zongzi lies in how the original ingredients meld into one delicious harmony. If you’re visiting Fenglin, be sure to stop by Goodeats Peanuts to sample the wholesome flavors of organic peanuts.

Easy-to-Make and Delicious SnacksTurmeric Curry Puffs

The concept of nourishment through food - replacing medicine with ingredients and the pharmacy with the kitchen - is key for many health-conscious people. Organic turmeric, now widely cultivated in the mountain regions of Fenglin, has become a very popular ingredient. Ground into turmeric powder, this golden spice is a core ingredient in curry and a staple in Southeast Asian cuisine. Rich in curcumin, turmeric is highly valued for its health benefits and is often used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Turmeric curry puffs are surprisingly easy to make. Using store-bought pastry dough, defrost and you’re ready to go - virtually foolproof. The filling requires only one onion, one apple, and a bit of pork floss for flavor. Chop the onion and apple into small cubes. Add turmeric powder with a bit of butter and oil in a pan, stir-frying until fragrant. Add the chopped ingredients and sauté over medium-low heat until soft. Mix in pork floss after turning off the heat to complete the filling. Wrap into dumpling shapes, bake or deep-fry, and you’ll have a delicious and nutritious snack - a golden treat that brings health and joy to the table.
