Located in Songpu, Yuli Township, Yuli Sera Coffee is a farm-to-table space run by Sera, a returning Amis youth, and his partner Hsiao-ching. Housed in a converted old warehouse, the café preserves wooden beams, repurposed doors, and windows, blending family memories with tribal culture to create a warm, handmade, shared space.
The menu centers on ingredients from their own farm and local tribal produce. Signature dishes, such as the Maqaw Pepper Pork Bun Burger, combine traditional Amis spices, wild vegetables, and handmade buns, striking a balance between cultural creativity and flavor. The Maqaw Pepper Minced Pork and Vegetable dish pairs seasonal wild vegetables, tri-color organic rice, and fresh pork for a light, wholesome meal. For a deeper experience, the chef offers a reservation-only omakase-style menu that lets guests savor the flavors of the season and local terroir. Coffee is brewed from house-roasted beans, with the signature Colombian beans offering nuanced flavors reminiscent of millet wine, shifting in character from hot to cooled drinks - a favorite among regulars.

Reflecting on the Land Through the Table|Seasonal Farm-to-Table Experiences
Here, food and agricultural education is not just a course - it’s an immersive experience. Observing crops, daily life, and cultural memory in the fields is transformed into an interactive learning experience. Visitors can participate in rattan weaving, DIY rice snacks, or customized half-day farm tours for groups. In the past, the café has collaborated with church children on activities such as bamboo cup making, mochi pounding, wild vegetable cooking, and shared meals, allowing kids to engage directly with ingredients and culture.
Through the ongoing “Mountain and Sea Kitchen” program, the café collaborates with local communities to promote sustainable farming and indigenous dietary practices. With generations of farming knowledge, the owners use their own rice and vegetables for lessons and product development, creating items such as shell ginger brown rice crackers and SERA rice egg rolls. This practice not only embodies the farm-to-table philosophy but gradually builds a micro-economy that supports sustainable rural development, in harmony with seasonal rhythms, agricultural cycles, and the natural pace of daily life - allowing travelers to truly experience Hualien’s slow living as genuine everyday life.
