Long Rainbow Bridge
Long Rainbow Bridge was built in 1959 and is 120 meter long. It is also the first the bridge made with cautilever prestressed concrete. When seen from far, it resembles the rainbow and thus was given the name. The bridge overlooks Shiou-Gu Luan River which gives a feel of serenity with hagdons hovering above in the sky. This bridge has no bridge pier and thus looks like an iron bridge placing in between the mountain walls. When standing on the bridge, you can also see the seemingly endless Pacific ocean as if you are in a gigantic boat. Long Rainbow Bridge is also the end point of Shiou-Gu Luan River rafting. Many tourists would stand on the bridge to watch those who get onshore after rafting. Rafting has become a popular sport along Shui-Gu Luan River, 500 meters from Da Guan Kuo and Jing Pu village. Adjacent to Shiou-Gu Luan River, Da Guan Kuo is a home to the Ami tribe where you can gain the view of Shu Bu Lan River and is a perfect site for camping, swimming and angling. Because Da…is the cradle and Ami aborigines, Guan Kuo Elementary School has offered pottery classes for the future generation to inherit the gradually disappearing craft of pottery. About 1 kilometer away from Long Rainbow Bridge, you will find the shore filled with calcareous stone which is called the miscellaneous look. This type of stone is white as snow. Speed boat rides are available for a stone tour along the river near Da Guan Kuo. |
