The East Rift Valley was formed in 70,000,000 years ago. It is situated between the Central Mountain Range and the coastal mountains on the east. The national scenic area stretches from Mugua River to Beinai River, cross through the “Green Corridor” from Hualien to Taitung. Till now, the complicated plate movement is still going on and thus diverse terrain features come to exist. In the Valley, the natural scenery is beautiful, the inhabitants are gracious and the environment is pure and unpolluted. With an unique natural and cultural scenery, the Valley is abundant in the tourists recreation resources. Along the country road, pastoral outlook is enchanting. The chains of scenic mountains, along with fertile plains with paddy fields, ranches, day lilies, pomelos, melon fields and tea plantations create an impressive sight and attract to every visitor. Therefore, the East Rift Valley has always been called a “land of oozing milk and honey.” |
