Few know that the origin of Ruishui farm was inspired by typhoon. Hualien is know for earthquakes and typhoons which often cause catastrophic aftermath for local farmers. In one of the typhoon night in 1985, the owner of Ruishui farm, Ching Chang Lin then the owner a papaya farm complained to his friend about the destruction of his farm by the typhoon. He said to the president of agriculture association in Hualien “I wonder what I can do now that my farm will be destroyed by the typhoon.” Chin Chang Lin’s family used to own a movie theater and he often envied the perky and handsome cowboys in the movies. He then proposed maybe I should start a cow farm since I have never seen cows being destroyed by typhoons. Nowadays, Ruishui farm is famed for its fresh and delicious milk extracted daily from the cows. The cheese made from the Ruishui milk certainly is irresistible. Many tourists have order their products by phone for friends all over Taiwan.
